The official mascot of Footsteps of Ghosts
FoG's official mascot is a ghost named Charlie. The idea for Charlie originated from an ongoing joke from Fate's now-deceased grandpa, who would tell her and her younger brother when they were kids that Charlie the ghost was responsible for little things happening around the house and that only he could see Charlie, since they were too slow and missed him. Of course, they never believed him, but it was a fun thing to entertain, and it is when sparked the idea for our Charlie.
Charlie Hayes, or rather Charlie the Ghost, was born on the island of Caligo many thousands of years ago before even Shades existed, not all that long after the ancient 'gods' descended from the heavens and blessed the people with their technology. With it, not only did he pick up on a British accent, from viewing holofilms of Great Britain, but he also, along with many other scientists, engineers, and designers, worked tirelessly on creating a great and powerful machine, which would later come to be known simply as the machine of mass destruction. It was so great and so powerful, that it earned the fury and disapproval of the 'gods.' Charlie was one of many that worked on the machine that was killed by their deities. To this day, he haunts Caligo and all of FoG, tied to this world by his desire to complete his work and to use it to rule over all the Earth. Ironically, Charlie is a bit of a pushover and because of how absurd his personality can be because of how nerdy yet overconfident he can be, he is often viewed as as more of a joke rather than as a frightening spectral presence.
