Of course criticism and critiques are still welcome, but I figured I'd just move my stuff to a thread here and away from the "critique" section, to give someone else a chance to have their artwork appraised. I'll just post mine here, as I go along.

ETA: My draenei priestess and her half-elven daughter. The picture is called "Comfort" - and it's just another one of my attempts at story-telling in visual medium. Some days, I think "illustrator" and "author" would be my dream jobs. And still, please, any criticism or suggestions for getting better would be very welcome.

That is really great! Visuals, as well as music, are always great ways to add to a story. I've always thought that a single medium was never enough to convey the proper emotions in a story, but aside from a book with pictures I've never really discovered a way to properly combine them all. Either way, pictures of that quality really do a lot to describe a scene

Thank you so much, Silvone - I really do appreciate your notice and input and compliment. I just finished this one tonight - there is a story behind it, but it's a bit too lengthy to really go into a lot of detail, and this probably isn't even the best depiction of it. >< Anyway, I also had to try my hand for once at something that had a lot more movement and action in it as well, and work out some kinks.

And so if anyone has any suggestions to improve that, I'd still appreciate them:

The facial features are really quite well-done. I know that is one of the hardest parts of a person to get right, and you have done an excellent job in both pictures. The bodies themselves are also well done: their postures and "movements", as well as their proportions. They definitely look realistic!

Of course, I am no artist, and so my criticism does not carry as much weight as it otherwise might

Yes, I know - September's artsy fartsy person's been a bit "not producing" this month - but I have been working! Just a question: what's the story of the first picture? You said it was a draenei mother and her half-elven daughter... biologically? If so, I'm curious as to why she doesn't bear any resemblance with her mother? I don't see any draenic features. I would understood if it was an adoption, however.

Either way it's a sweet picture. It came out lovely.

Hi there Kyna, and thank you for the compliment - "sweet" and tender is very much what I was going for. And I apologize for the delay in responding - I'm in the process of moving, and my internet access right now is VERY much "catch as catch can." ><

As for the logic behind my draenei priestess Meleta and her daughter - yes, they are biologically mother and daughter. Mel's [future] husband is a quel'dorei/sin'dorei (politically, at least) paladin, and the character of friend of mine with whom I RP quite a bit. We decided they would have children since, it seems, half-draenei do exist - and it would make no sense that if orc and draenei could have children (even if draenei are not native to "Old Draenor") then why not draenei and sin'dorei?

We talked a bit about what their children would look like, and decided to use the "WoW logic." The two most notable half-draenei, Garona and Lantresor of the Blade, both look, for the most part, a LOT like their non-draenei parent but for eyes, perhaps fangs, a certain slendering of the features, etc. If you wowwiki for Lantresor, you'll find he talks about there once being many more of "his kind."

At any rate, we just decided to go ahead with the idea that any of their children would follow the outer form of their elven father, with certain draenei features. It's not obvious in the picture, but Vendessa (the daughter) has draenei glowing eyes and fangs. She also has ivory skin, and her mother's silver hair.

And I know you have the move going on. I still have boxes that I haven't put away from 5 months ago. I think that's pretty normal.

Well, it's the first that I've finished since before the move. And what that means is, I've been very rusty, and this is definitely not my best work.
