A FOG Writing Contest - Ghost Stories *WINNER*

Halloween is just around the corner, and to celebrate, FOG is holding another official contest and sticking to this spooky theme! Halloween is a big time for Footsteps of Ghosts, and we thought it would be very exciting to see what kind of ghost stories our members can imagine and put together!

Rules

---

• Only members of FOG may enter. The Administrators and the judges are the only ones here not able to compete.
  
  
• No material submitted can be above the rating we have set for our message board, which is R. If any submission is deemed unsuitable, that person will be disqualified. If you are unsure whether or not something could be rated R or above (as in NC-17), then it is best to just exclude that from your writing.
  
  
• There is a length limit of 5,000 words. No entry is to exceed this limit. If an entry is above the limit, we will ask you to shorten it before it is even considered for judging.
  (In order to check how many words you have, simply open Microsoft Word, and go to Tools --> Word Count. If you do not have Word, or would simply like a quicker/easier way, you can use this Word Count Tool.) There is no minimum amount of words required.
  
  
• All submissions must be posted here in a reply.
  
  
• Only fictional stories will be accepted. In other words, poems, songs, biographies, or other written works will not be recognized.
  
  
• All entries must be original works in English. Plagiarism, in any form, will, of course, disqualify you.
  
  
• Only one entry per person is allowed.
  
  
• All entries are final. No revisions will be accepted. This means, be sure to carefully read over your entry for mistakes before turning it in. When it is submitted, it will be considered complete and finalized. (Only when the judging is complete and a winner chosen are you allowed to edit your entry, if you desire.)

The theme of this contest, in relation to the upcoming Halloween holiday, is ghosts. Other horrific, supernatural, and paranormal ideas are also welcome, though ghosts and spirits must be included in some way.


Prizes

---

The winner of the contest will have their winning entry placed into the Contest Winners subforum of the Hall of Fame, where all may read it from then on. Every official contest winner also receives a badge that they can display (if they choose) in their signature. They will also be awarded with an art request from myself. The winner will be able to request a drawing to be done for them of whatever they like. (For examples of my works, see my DeviantArt.)

The contest is officially open and will end on Saturday, October 31st, 2009.
Judging will be open for two weeks afterward, and the winner will be announced no later than November 14th.

Doppelganger by Fate Foretold

OMG! This actually gives me a chance to use something that I've been working on lately as a free project of mine! Ooh.

This is going to be fun!

I've had a story idea for this that I have been wanting to write for a long time. Now I will actually have the motivation to write it out!

Not that I mentioned this in my intro but I am big on Paranormal stuff. One of the original reasons I was interested in this place was the title of the Forum. Anyway I have a story I wrote for a writing class a while back that I think meets the requirements. I will submit it once I give a once over three times. This writing isn't supposed to be a specific genre right? I mean I don't write horror/thriller style (stuff like the Shinning) so that will still be acceptable right?

Other horrific, supernatural, and paranormal ideas are also welcome, though ghosts and spirits must be included in some way.

I believe that as long as it meets that criteria, then you're in the in the clear, Sunwolf.

Very cool. I am interested in the paranormal as well.

Nope, there is no specific genre in place, though horror would fit the bill easiest, but you could still write an action-packed ghostly tale or one more like a mystery or a drama, etc. You're also welcome to submit a past written work, so long as it fits the requirements.

For sure going to take a crack at this!

Ragter -- There's no minimum amount of words, so that's entirely up to you. If you think your entry is strong enough just being a few paragraphs, then coolies. XD
