I have to give a speech today, since my partner and I didn't go on Tuesday. Bleh

I'm terrible at improvisation and just speaking normally, so I'm going to mostly just be reading from a paper I typed up. I hope that's okay, because I just can't think of things on the spot. Even in normal, everyday conversations I'm terrible at talking.

Well, I'm much to late to be any help, but I was very much the same way until I took Comm 108, a speech communications course. The teacher actually helped me to a point where I can now give mediocre presentations, instead of reading off a paper or freezing up.

The way she taught me takes a lot of work, but it is worth it. Basically, you want to make an improv speech because it sounds better than the alternative. So, you make a series of note cards (try to keep it less than 3, 1 if you can) with important information on it. Put up key words that trigger the ideas you want to discuss, as well as quotes and sources you may want to use during the speech.

This way, you aren't looking down at the paper all the time, but you don't have to completely memorize the information.

It is still vital to memorize as much as you can, but the note card will help you if you suddenly draw a blank.

Hopefully you can try doing a speech this way sometime in the future and see if it works for you ^_^

I've learned something similar to that in an old Speech class that I took (back at community college), but I think that I needed to practice a lot more, since even when I'd create notecards with just some basic points on them, I'd end up memorizing what I wanted to say, so that when I actually said it, it sounded like I was still reading it. xD Since this isn't a Speech-type class (it's more of an English one), and since our teacher is really laid back and acts/seems like a student herself, I'm hoping that it won't be a huge deal if I just read, especially if I read enthusiastically and look up to make eye contact. *crosses fingers*

Even with note cards, I couldn't improvise. I had to memorize my entire speeches word for word or I would get myself stuck. And we had some pretty long speeches.

Wow, yeah, that sounds like me too (minus the long speeches D: ). I think something that's good to remember for speeches is that most of the class isn't going to be paying attention anyway lol, or if they are, most are rooting for you to do well.

It wasn't that I didn't want it to sound wrong. If I can't remember what I practiced, I can't get anything out. At all. And then they simply won't be hearing anything. I can't improvise at all. Even in conversation: If Ryona asks me to talk to her...I can never think of anything to say. The same for anyone. If I'm under pressure to talk my mind draws blanks. I don't know why, but I simply can't improvise under pressure.

My complaint is how long it's been since I've actually rp'd... and how my writing is suffering because of it. >.< Not only that, but my creativity seems a might bit constipated, and that is frustrating to no end!!

Gah! I just called a place I want to try to get an internship at and I swear I totally blew it. I got so nervous and worked I almost forgot my phone number! Stupid answering machines, I hate talking to them! I almost wish the actual person would have picked up. Now I'm all stressed out and that's my first choice place too. Just, ugh!

I want to dress up really fine and go out but it seems that in the whole area there are no locations where such a dresscode is appealing. The only club I know of is some rich people's club over fifty kilometers away. Didn't find anything else in the nearby cities.

I went to a wedding last year, and I got dressed up real nice...

and the only people there that were dressed better than Silv and I, were the bride and groom. Embarassed

Oh, don't be silly, Ryona! Lol my mom's just completely insane, in lots of ways lol. Aww, but thanks for your message, Ryona. You really didn't need to do that! <3 My mom just is not a very smart person sometimes, especially when it comes to internet stuff, so she couldn't understand what I was trying to tell her about the contest.

So, I guess the blackbird that my parents and brother saved and kept that I had talked about before just escaped. My parents were washing his cage, and my brother took it outside for some reason, and then he just flew off because my mom hadn't clipped his wings in a month. So, he's at the top of their neighbor's tree, and I guess my mom was really upset about it and crying. She was angry at my brother for taking him outside, but I guess my brother feels bad about it. I don't know if they'll be able to get him down or not, but hopefully if he does leave, he'll know how to take care of himself, since they raised him practically since he hatched. (My mom spent a lot of money on him too, with his cage and accessories and such. D: )

I complain that I did something super stupid, and now I have some Malware shit on my computer with a couple of trojans. I'm super irritated about it, and I had to go out to buy some discs onto which I can save my important stuff before wiping my computer. Ugh... This is such a pain in the ass... ._.
