Get the Noob!

Post by Shadow Hunter on Sat Oct 17, 2009 7:35 pm

So, uh, I'm new here Smile Actually, I'm new to the site's entire layout, as I'm usually on Proboards sites. It looks like a cool site though. Um...Okay, I hate talking about myself, so if anybody has any questions, just post them or let me know Smile

Hey, Shadow Hunter! Smile

I hope that you can get used to this type of board, since it's different for you. If you have any questions or need help with anything, just feel free to ask! :]

So, what do you like to do in your free time besides role-playing?

Gah! I'm so sorry, I forgot about this place, then couldn't remember the URl...yea Google^^

Fate Fortold: Not much. Hang out on SIM sites, try to get activity onto my own role play site, play with my pets, listen to music, read, attempt to get my but in gear and work on my two books (the first of which was supposed to be done months ago and is barely started), and just...complain a lot. Yep.

Ratger: XDD Funny. Actually, I'm a girl, as is now displayed.

Inerio: Uh, no. My organs will go nowhere but back into the earth once I've died. Unless I'm eaten by some wild animal Smile

Kalon: Depends. Mostly I just like Sharp Chedder, or Mild. Cream cheese is good, especially on potato chips, and mozarella is good on pizza and various things.

Anemone: XDD Yes, yes I do.

Kathryn: I intend to Smile

Thanks everyone^^

XD Aw, don't feel bad. I fail as well. *pats* Actually, I'm very surprsied to see several males on here 0.o Most role players, in the text sense at least, are female. I rarely see guys on role play sites, so they usually get swarmed when they pop up XD

Maybe it's because men are more visually oriented, so they tend to stick with the MMORPG's rather than going for the text based ones. FoG is just really lucky, and Fate is an amazing advertiser, so that helps. heheh

That makes so much sense. That, and (no offense to anybody here) they tend to be more illiterate than women. I mean, you've got to check out my English class 0.o They're seniors, but they write like they're in Kindergarten! Of course, that's only one sample, and I've seen some very literate male writers on some sites Smile Rare, but I tend to follow them around once I find them XD Just to hang with someone else who takes writing seriously. *stares at new site I joined that I wouldn't have had I known how bad the role playing people were*

In all honesty, I think I agree with you, but I also think it has to do with the whole visual oriented aspect where pictures and images have a stronger impression than words and picturing things from words.

However, one of the absolute best role players I have ever met in my life is my lover. He has a penis, and he loves his MMORPG's, but he is a really talented writer at the same time. It's awesome. ^^_^^

Elric, didn't you read that Shadow is a female?

Maybe this proves what Shadow was saying...

Wow, well anyway, most of the best writers I know of are male. Weird. Also, anyone know the ratio of professional writers in terms of sex?

Oh... Maybe it just depends on one's own gender? I mean, I'm female, so I see more female writers than male ones, but you're male, and you know of more male writers. I've often found that when I changed my position in life, I was aware of a lot more things I hadn't realized existed in my former perspective... Like... I used to smoke a lot of pot, so I knew how to get it, but then I stopped smoking pot, and I have no idea where to get it any more. However, in high school, I switched pot for theatre, and I had my eyes opened to a whole new world, and I was totally aware of things theatre/drama-wise of which I had never even heard a whisper before I got into it.

I have no idea what the male to female author ratio is... There are probably more males, though, considering the fact that once upon a time, females just didn't write books.

I meant currently, for today. I am fully aware that the overall ratio is heavily weighted in the male's ratio. However, the world's first novel was written by a women, so there is that.
