The Day She Left.

I am Rexar, I am a slight novice at writing compared to all the work I have seen on these forums but that makes me excited that I can finally enhance my skills. I have been out of practice for a few years now but I would still like to submit a little something I embarked on a few weeks ago to get me back. I hope it is up to standards.

Chapter 1 - The Denial

Kuron Xyler had dwelt in the same spot for almost 2 hours gazing deeply at the red wine stain that saturated the snow white carpet. It was like staring at his own blood, the eventuality of a wound cut so deep that it was beyond repair. Kuron knew the time had come, every fight, every argument was leading to it, like a train to its destination. It was eventually going to end, he wanted it to end. The fallen bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon had stop releasing the flow of the wine onto the carpet. The engagement ring, situated next to the fallen wine bottle was once the object they foresaw as their eternal bond in wedlock. Shari Turner had chosen to discard that bond and slammed the door on his life. Kuron cracked an obnoxious smile of approval. The situation was contained; this ring was for someone else.

Thirty-six hours prior to the last fume between the couple, Kuron was at his secular job, working at the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors. He often had to do sketches of projects they would soon undertake in the future such as shopping malls or business centres. A job he enjoyed, that paid a considerable amount and a secure career. Only his wrist and hands appeared enthusiastic as he drew, the rest of his body was perfectly static. His grey eyes sharp and piercing, glaring at the work as if he was looking through it at a further object. James Freeman didn’t knock before entering the room but Kuron remained motionless.
“I need the data sheet that was supposed to be sent from the Hardy P Project” James said trying desperately to slow down his pulse with deep breaths. He was always late for something.
“They are in the second draw in the cabinet to your left”
Kuron said without disconnecting his eyes from the drawing sheet. James wasn’t offended by his lack of help in showing him the exact file, especially since he was in a rush. Kuron was the best charted surveyor in the department and besides that he didn’t have a sense of humour or liked to be interrupted. He was very skilful with words and could make anyone commit suicide with less than a sentence. James tugged at the draw, nearly pulling it out of the cabinet, then skipping through each file entry. Kuron didn’t even move at the sound of his office equipment being massacred by the old man. A young woman by the name of Beth Ronald had accompanied James to Kuron’s room. She wore a tight black and grey dress that ended at her knees. The colours matched her dark eye shadow and mascara, but stood no chance in overcoming the fullness of her deep red lips. Her mysterious green eyes centred at the drawing puppet at the desk.

“Have you found it Mr. Freeman”
Beth whispered, continuing to station her eyes on Kuron. James did not answer; instead he ruffled the files more in search of the project folder. Kuron however stopped drawing, his hearing skills were incredible but he hadn’t heard her enter and he was intrigued by that. Kuron pushed his chair back and rose from his seat buttoning his suit. Beth pulled a few strands of her hair behind her ears continuing the watch Kuron approaching.
“You must be Kuron Xyler head of the Section 13” She said informatively:
“Guilty, and you are?”
“Beth Ronald, the new secretary for this department.” Her voice was quiet but clear.
“Interesting, how long have you been here?” Kuron questioned, seemingly more intrigued “Two days.”
“Two days…” Kuron repeated confirming.
She was impressed by something about him that wasn’t noticeably obvious. Kuron had a regal aura about him that was beyond anything petty. Something she would later use. James had finally found the folder and was making his way to the door in a hurry as usual.
“Thanks for everything Kuron; I’ll be going now, make sure you have all the designs on my desk tomorrow morning stat.” James grumbled on his way out.
Beth had secretly acknowledged the fact that the old man had made his way out of the room; however she continued to stare in awe at Kuron, and Kuron watched back. He had never seen anything so beautiful. However his dark nature prevented him from expressing this inner passion.

Finally she followed the old man out, not looking back once or saying anything. Kuron walked slowly back to his desk and began gaze at the photograph of his girlfriend, the one he took at the local park bridge. He loved her, but something was tugging the other way. Kuron turned his head back and assumed his static working position, continuing to draw.
