Awww...thanks, everyone! I feel so loved right now

It was a very good birthday! A bunch of friends and I went out to Chili's for dinner, where I had my first EVER margarita with alcohol. It was really fruity and quite tasty. My friends sang happy birthday, and a few minutes later the waitresses came out clapping for the usual 10-second birthday song. The weird part, though, was that one of them was carrying a vase of flowers, and we were all confused because restaurants usually don't give out expensive flower arrangements to costumers on their birthday. Then I read the card and realized it was from my parents. I have no idea how they did it, but they somehow arranged to have the flowers delivered to Chili's while I was there and for the restaurant people to bring them out. Fantastic birthday surprise! I always knew my dad was sneaky...

After that, my roommates and I went to a friend's place and hung out for a while. Then I went to a bar for the first time with a couple other friends. It was...interesting, to say the least. But just for the record, I did not get drunk or suffer any ill effects, and I am totally fine today. I have specifically waited until I turned 21 before drinking (except for the occasional sip of wine with my parents). Overall, quite a fun birthday. I really enjoyed being able to spend time with some of my closest friends, and that, not the alcohol, was the most important part to me.

Again, thank you guys so much for all the birthday wishes! This just further exemplifies the great community atmosphere that I have experienced here at FoG. You all rock!

Admittedly, I have had alcoholic beverages despite being underage, but I'm going to probably just have one drink in a bar, legally, when I turn twenty-one. Getting drunk wouldn't be my aim. Maybe I'll have to try a margarita if you claim they're tasty.

I agree, it's definitely not my aim to get drunk. I would definitely say try a margarita. The one I had was really fruity and had pineapple juice in it. Also, I've had virgin strawberry daiquiris before I turned 21, but I will definitely want to try one with the alcohol now that I'm legal. Just be careful with the mixed drinks because the one I had was pretty strong, so I had to drink it over an hour and a half period.

Yeah. I've had alcohol a few times, and I know how they can creep up on a person. Mixed drinks are the only tolerable ones in my opinion. Beer and straight shots are gross. Then again, I am female. Men have to be macho, and women can just be women, so yeah. XD

I actually thought that I would never drink beer in my life. That was true until I found the one's that I actually liked the taste of. I think it's just a matter of personal taste. As for getting drunk I usually only drink when I am with my friends or family because I like relaxing and hearing stories and such as a group. To me having a drink is just more like socializing that anything else. I actually almost never drink at bars because I don't drink and drive. Just my two cents. You don't have to get raving drunk to have a good time with friends.
