Shadow Duels: When Shades Clash

A new forum game involving your Shades.

In this forum game, your Shade will enter a free-for-all battle arena and will use its powers to defeat others in combat!

Sign-ups:
To register, post your Shade’s name and species as a reply indicating that you wish to join and I will add you to the list. You may join at any time.

Rules for initiating combat:
Declare that you are attacking a Shade that is on the registry. As long as that Shade has not fainted or is currently in combat, you may duel them. If a challenge is not responded to within 7 days, the match will clock out and the match will end without score.

Rules of combat:
1. Each Shade starts combat with 100HP.
2. Shades roll for initiative.
3. Shade advantage is added.
4. First attacker declares attack and rolls.
5. Second attacker declares attack, applies damage to totals and rolls.
6. Repeat with alternating attacks and apply damage.
7. The first Shade to decrease the enemy to 0HP is the winner.

How do I roll?
Click the post reply button. Type your reply. Next to the send button you will find a roll dice interface. Select the type and amount of dice to roll. The roll will appear in a separate post.

How do I role for initiative?
Roll a 10-sided dice. The highest roller attacks first. In the case of a tie, re-roll initiate until resolved.

How do I determine advantage?
Bownytes have advantage over Grimalkins. Grimalkins have advantage over Inklaws. Inklaws have advantage over Bownytes.

How do I roll for advantage?
In addition to your attack roll, on your first turn only you may roll a 6-sided dice and add that to your damage.

How do I roll for attack?
Roll a 20-sided dice. Subtract that number from the target’s hit points. A roll of 1 is a miss. A roll of 20 is a critical hit and an additional d10 will be rolled and compared to the opponent's initiative roll. If the check is higher, the opponent loses; if the check is lower, then it gets added to the 20 for additional damage.

What happens if I am reduced to 0 hit points?
Your Shade faints. Your Shade cannot fight again for another 48 hours from the post that caused your hit points to drop below 0. After that time, your hit points are back to normal and you may start an attack or have an attack directed at you.

Kiju uses her metallomancy ability to pull several small chunks of iron ore from the ground, allowing them to hover over head for a moment. Once she gathered approximately fifty samples, Kiju unleashed them into the sky towards Regnum with a force comparable to a high powered shotgun with exceptional accuracy.

Regnum is not at all prepared for the assault. The Inklaw had thought that the advantage and the first assault would be his. The Shade was mistaken... Gravely so. The onslaught of metal clips the bird's wings.

Regnum comes spiraling down to the ground and the force of impact can be heard for a mile. The Shade doesn't move save for the dust that trails outward from the place of his contact with the ground floor.

Regnum has fainted.

Kiju managed to brace himself against the surge of wind, but several twigs and pebbles were carried by the gust causing minor cuts and welts.

In response, the Bownyte used her ability to pull a large mass of lead from the ground. With a surge of will, the weight soared toward Regnum, taking shape as it did so. It would continue to do so until it impacted the Inklaw, which will cause the mass to wrap around its target and close upon itself into a broad heavy belt that would encumber the bird and make flight difficult to maintain.

The Inklaw struggles to maintain flight. He manages to stay in the air for now. Regnum whispers to the air spirits and they answer him by increasing the amount of wind the shade is able to control. A second stronger wind gust heads toward Kiju.
