Re: Emoria: World-Building OOC
Um... I have a concern...
I'm leaving to visit Misery from the 11th to the 22nd, so I won't be able to post during that time...
Is there any way we can work around that?

That is 4 days away, is that enough time to post before you leave? If not, we will just wait until you get back. Everyone else can post before you, and I know that I personally will probably need a couple of posts to get it all out.

Re: Emoria: World-Building OOC
Yeah. That should be enough time. I have Monday and Tuesday off work, and I should be able to work through a post on one of those days.
I just didn't want to make a post and end up holding everyone else back for ten days...

Don't worry about it, just do what you can and if we wait a couple of days we wait. No biggie.

I'm sure it will be 10 or more days before we get everyone's post in anyway. And if not, those who are waiting on you can wait a little longer
We've all been waiting this long anyway, so whats a few more days

Re: Emoria: World-Building OOC
Just caught myself up on everything. I also found some inspiration to logically explain some stuff about my race's physiology. Mainly, the thing about them having war in their blood sounded too lame to leave unexplained, so I'm going to make an update explaining how it works. If anyone cares to read it, I'll make another update post here when it's finished. It shouldn't take long.

Re: Emoria: World-Building OOC
I look forward to reading it.
It is unfortunate news that Caleb will no longer be participating in Emoria. Deadeye and Caleb may perform a 1x1 about the history of their two nations, and his nation will remain in it's location as a non-playable nation, with control of decisions regarding it given to DeadEye. The character sheet is still up for now, but it will eventually be taken down and only it's world space info will be moved to geography (whenever we get around to updating that section).

Re: Emoria: World-Building OOC
To keep things simple for me (and everyone else for that matter) I'm going to have a very loose grip on the way I play the Drenata. The reasons are simple but somewhat numerous; the most obvious being that I don't want to butcher what Caleb wanted his people to be like, and they were isolationists to begin with. Historical chance-encounters are fine, and run-ins in this story shouldn't be an issue either, but please don't make anything dictating massive changes in government, society, culture, etc based off of their actions.

These rules apply to all non-playable nations. Basically, only very minor interaction when necessary (such as traveling through the lands) is allowed.
I should put that up somewhere in the Emoria info thread...

[*]DeadEye
Updated once again. Look underneath Physiology in the 'warrior blood' explanation to find the updated bits. It's a somewhat short 'nerd science' read, but I thought it would be in good taste to include it.

Re: Emoria: World-Building OOC
So... roughly how much time would have passed between the kidnappings and the Council?

Would it depend on each kidnapping or did all of them occur around the same time?

Re: Emoria: World-Building OOC
I'm going to have to leave that one up to Raptorman. For my own culture, the kidnapping would have happened within the past two or three weeks, enough time for them to hear about the council and the widespread kidnappings, and then decide who would be attending. Perhaps the kidnapping of my guildmaster is late in the game, perhaps it is early compared to others. I don't know. Like I said, I'm leaving that up to Raptorman.

Re: Emoria: World-Building OOC
I had thought they were all at pretty much the same time or similar. Within a day of each other at any rate. Otherwise I likely would have sent the same person to catch all of those being kidnapped, I didn't I needed to sent different groups.
So pretty much I would say it has been a few weeks maybe a little more maybe a little less but pretty much the same time scale as silvone's guildmaster's kidnapping.

Just a heads up, I won't be able to post until the weekend, most likely. Have a CAE exam and then lots of informatics homework, so my writing time will be minimal.

I'm working on my post, but I'm a notoriously slow poster. I actually started yesterday, but I'm not even halfway through it. It should be up by the end of the day.

PANIC! PANIC PANIC PANIC! I randomly stop getting the emails telling me there's been posts. I don't know what causes it. So if I don't show up once every 2 pages or so PLEASE PM me or contact me via Gunny or one of the other ex-roleplayerguild people.

Oh dear! I'll try and do that.
Sorry I haven't been active much, but I finished my two big papers so now there is just two exams to worry about, so I should have more time to spare soon.

Re: Emoria: World-Building OOC
You know, with the length of posts so far, and the depth of the world that's been created (not to mention some truly awesome character development), I'm not really sure that we can safely call this a "casual" RP.

Oh please please please let this stay casual! I'm not ready for advanced posts yet! *whimpers*
Whining aside, I'm slowly working with Plague on getting our post done. (Our characters are traveling together, so that's why we're working together.)

Well, I don't think it would really be moved or anything, I'm just saying that I'm impressed with the depth that this has achieved.

Okay...*massive relief* But, I must agree, we have created an amazingly indepth world. I can't wait to see where the RP takes us!

Re: Emoria: World-Building OOC
The only reason we did not open this in advanced is because of the post length requirement. I personally do not agree with it, because in order for there to be good dialogue between characters (that isn't controlled or hashed out via PM) sometimes shorter posts are necessary. Trying to reach the four paragraph limit turns into flowery, useless garbage that does nothing for the story. It is much easier to reach the two paragraph limit without adding a bunch of yadda yadda.
But this is far from a casual RP!

Re: Emoria: World-Building OOC
It is casual, in my opinion, because it is experimental. There are things we will do wrong, there are times when we won't meet the word requirement for advanced, and there are times when our writing simply won't be up to par because we are either overwhelmed or are simply stuck because we are in over our heads
What we have done so far is absolutely amazing, and I agree it could certainly fit in the advanced category, but the hard part is yet to come. The really hard part will be working together to actually weave the story, and to tell that story by intertwining...what is it...16? different authors.
We will have people leave, and we will need to deal with that. We will have new characters come in, and we will have to find a way to bring them into the story and up to speed. I don't think many of us have attempted so a large scale role-play before (I know I haven't), so I'm not sure how it will work out. But to be honest with you...I expected it to die before the first post was ever made, so we've already exceeded my own expectations!
Another reason it is in casual, I forgot to mention above, is because I don't really care about writing quality or quantity. I just want people to post, to participate and work with each other. If we focus too much on quality, we will lose more people, and the role-play will surely die....

Re: Emoria: World-Building OOC
I have participated in a few RPs of similar scale before. My Advice is to make sure everyone feels included so that they don't get bored.
They stick around as long as they feel there is a purpose to it.

Re: Emoria: World-Building OOC
That's good advice. Hard to do with so many people, but I'll have to work on it. And I don't want to piss people off by flooding them with PM's and stuff... I know that irritates some people.

I'm with Hermes on the PM thing. I like writing PM's for some reson.
That said, I am working on my post today. I'm having major issues trying to figure out an element that I'm not sure if I want to include or not...major issues
