Traced My Footsteps Back Here...

Post by Ominous Flare on Wed Mar 24, 2010 4:42 am

You probably don't remember me, but I was one of the members invited to join the community by Fate Foretold. You wouldn't be able to recognize me by my writing style, either, because I've lost touch with my good sense of writing for a while.

You can say I'm a kind of guy who gives up on something halfway easily (or, better written in Chinese as "半途而废"). Hence, I gave up on writing and PBP RPGs, too, probably due to a lost in interest, but I believe the reason involved having other priorities when I left.

I tried many things after I left, from posting free Digimon songs on YouTube to actually working hard in school to, most recently, vlogging. I kinda gave up on that last one, too, 'coz it was so darn tiring, especially when I need a script to talk smoothly in front of the camera.

So, why am I here again, wasting your time, having you read about my sorry-ass life? Well, I don't know if you guys are the philosophical type (but I presume you are, what with the great literature writing gig and everything), but if you are, you can say (or write) that I lost my way in life recently, and in the search of solitude, I ended up here, where I hope I could find some sort of peace amongst friends and whatnot. It seems kinda selfish to just suddenly pop up here again when I'm in trouble, but... I don't know. This place has a blogging section, IIRC, so, I hope I could find my peace here by blogging, somehow.

Regardless, I hope I didn't bore you too much, and it's kinda nice to visit a forum again. I haven't been participating in one for so long. It's like visiting old friends again.

Welcome, welcome! Welcome back to the FOG. Fear not, the gentle embrace of the gray veil does not discriminate, and you will find your solace here at our friendly community so long as you don't seek to cause trouble.

If I might suggest, perhaps trying to become active in a roleplay or two might help you find the will to accomplish something. A sense of achievement, like that of advancing the story in a roleplay or reaching a flag in the development of a story can be a surprisingly inspirational occasion.

Regardless, you're welcome to hang around, whatever your reasons. Relax, have some fun, and hopefully you will find your way back to the road.

Yes, I've been wanting to do that, but it seems that most of the RPs here either have their registration closed or just simply don't have a setting of my interest (most of the settings are either in space or medieval times, which is fine and all in an RP, but I'm more interested in an RP that involves the modern world cities or schoolgrounds).

But, I'll go search through the RPs again. Maybe I just didn't look hard enough.

Thanks anyway. Smile

*raises hand* I remember you! ^^ I definitely remember your avatar, 'cause it's got a dragon on it. xD

Welcome back! Very Happy

lol Thanks.

That avatar used to be the picture I put at the beginning of each of my videos to represent my persona as Ominous Flare. That has now changed to a burning tree similar to the one portrayed in The Ten Commandments with "A Dragon of Omnipotency Production" finalized into "An Ominous Flare Production". But all that has nothing to do with my return. Spam

It has to do with your avatar. It counts. ^^ Dragons are never offtopic as far as I'm concerned. xD And anyway it also has to do with you and what you've been up to in your absence, which does relate to your return, 'cause you wouldn't be returning if you weren't absent. ^^

Ha-HA! Take that, Off-Topic Police! (I used to be one, so I'm probably shooting myself in the foot. Razz) All one has to do is bend the offtopic so that it relates. Like this:

Flowers are pretty, kinda, don'tchathink?
Yeah!
So, uh... and Ominous Flare probably saw lots of 'em since he's been away.
And he'll see fewer now that he's back!
Only maybe better since people post nice pictures of gardens and things on the internet.
Right. Oh! and FOG is on the internet, too! Which he's back at!
Yup, we're on topic! xD

You do know that I was just joking with the "Spam" emote, right? lmao Regardless, I would write that you're cute, but... you're a guy. Fear Take it as I've wrote nothing.

And the only flowers I've seen are those in the botanical garden of my country (some of my classmates had to do a video shoot there as part of our school assignment)... which barely has any flowers at all, as far as I could remember. All I saw were greens. Rolling Eyes Some garden.

But, in regards to what I did while I was gone... well, I guess I just caught up with my real life and spent more time on Facebook and whatnot, working on homework and boring stuff like that. That work-hard attitude dropped about 2 weeks into the first school term of this year. Funny Drunk

Then, a few weeks ago, I got into anime. Which made working hard on my assignments look like even much of a bother compared to watching such decent animated stories (the most decent of the few series I'm following is Clannad, Gurren Lagann, and the one I'm going to watch soon, Code Geass).

I've also been trying to support good movies that don't rely on pure CGI crap to entertain audiences, of course, as always. But, this cause has also caused (no pun intended) me to get in a conflict with one of my classmates, resulting in my recent dive into another barrage of emo-ness once more, thus leading me here, where I thought I could find some peace here with old friends, which I did, which leads me back to Square 1 all over again... Yep.

Yeah, that was my other personality up there. ^^
I'm cute with family and online. At FOG I do cheers a lot. Elsewhere I often get called [insert adverb here] cheerful. Most recent example: a co-worker called me "perennially cheerful" the other day. Laughing
The other side of me is more like my avatar. Cool

Movies with no CGI... movies with no CGI....
I didn't know they HAD those anymore. Laughing
You mean like where CGI is just a means to an end, like Star Wars, and not so much the end itself, like Dragon Wars?

Erm, no. Star Wars was a great movie. Razz

I mean movies which only rely on CGI to entertain. CGI is fine, but it must be accompanied with a great story and great characters. Like The Terminator, Aliens, Gladiator, The Matrix, and of course, Star Wars.

Unfortunately, the closest thing to that kind of movie nowadays is The Hurt Locker.

And there exist in this world people who oppose this view we have, that it's okay for movies to be all CG and no story?? Shocked

Well, I mean, I guess it's not exactly BAAAAD for movies to be like that, but I definitely wouldn't put them on the same level as movies that have CG AND a story. Very Happy

You have no idea. tongue The heads of college students can be so thick. "Oh, I just want to watch Clash of the Titans just for the CGI!" Blah Blah Blah

It is my opinion that Singaporeans have no appreciation in smart movies. Sure, there are some of them who would appreciate the quality film-art, but there are still many out there who would rather bury their eyes in sweet, eye-candy-filled CGI Porn.

Why call it CGI Porn? Because like pornography, you can just fast-forward CGI movies (with no story) to the CGI money shots, as you would double-arrow Porn movies to the nudity and such.

That's a term invented by The Movie Preview Critic, by the way, not by me. Check out his channel on YouTube. Wink

Wow, I guess some people have shallow brains that can't understand a story in the first place. Razz I can see why you'd want to reconnect with people of intelligence, like here. ^^

I still eagerly await the arrival of the PTS's--Personal Teleportation Systems--so the world will be all the smaller and people like those on FOG will be able to meet in person so much easier. ^^

lol That'd be awesome. No more phobias of plane trips going awry when I travel to New York next time.

New York seems like so much fun. Although they are opening an Universal Studio theme park over here, too, on our small island. Will probably be extremely expensive, though.

Sometimes things like that take time. If I remember correctly, I was here for a few months before I decided to join a role play... Then again, it could have only felt like that long... I can't remember. ^^_^^;;

Some things have happened in her life of which she needs to take care. It's more important than running a forum, so Weiss is her stand-in for the time being. We don't know when she'll be back.

Things change over time. Nod

As for finding a role-play, I suppose it depends on what you're interested in.
I could help you in your search, if you like. Very Happy
What I did when I first joined, for example, was go straight to the Advanced Role-Play section. Laughing

I agree with you, Ominous. It has become a bit different with her departure. Though things really do change with time, Fate's hiatus has caused FoG to lose some of its luster. I have a great hope that she will return in the future to ensure that FoG becomes the place it's meant to be once more.
