I'm understanding that we're writing the Greek Gods in modern form? So for Apollo and Artemis, they wouldn't be experts with just a bow, which was an admirable weapon in the era, but probably with modern firearms as well, yes?

And I must have completely missed harper's post, but I don't want to step on any toes. I'll stick with Ares and try to get a character sheet together soon.

I see the bow and arrow more as a symbolism for self defense and outdoorsmanship, you know? That's why I can see Artemis not very much being into weaponry, but perhaps just sports. After all, archery still is a sport now. Besides, Artemis was more associated with women and the woods than she was with arrows, as is Apollo more associated with music and medicine than he is with a bow.

I'd very much like an Ares, but since you'll both have 1 character up, it's still equal shot. He's fine if you put it up first, I asked.

Okay, so for Erebos I have this whole complicated strategy worked out. For one thing, unlike most gods, he still clings to the arrogance of his power and avoid most human settlements (he's scorn them ever since Edison, his arch nemesis, created the lightbulb). So unlike every other god mentioned so far, he wouldn't be hiding among humans, but preying on them for his amusement when they venture out of the city.

That's what the gods did, was use humans as their toys, in many situations. A lot of the time they tended to ignore them, but they would use them when they could if they were bored.

a) The Olympic gods are (presumably) no longer worshipped. Does this diminsh their powers?
b) Why do they live as equals among humans when they could be living on Mount Olympus/in Volcanoes etc as they used to? Perhaps this is a question for each individually, or perhaps the heavens/underworld have become untenable for some reason. Do the gods resent being forced to live among dirty humans?

Oooh, very nice questions.
As for the first, I would like to say 'no'. A God is a God, no matter what. In fact, I'd like to think they enjoy it a bit more, to add to their mischief and without having to pay attention to their fan-service so much. (You have to consider how annoying it would be to consistently listen to prayers and praise every day.)
And I feel some MAY prefer living on Olympus. They pampering and the solitude would be beneficial to many, so I see it as more of a home for them, where they go after a busy day at 'work'. However, others may enjoy the entertainment humans provide, or, for the more sincere Gods, prefer to be among the people to better perform their duties as a God for them. It's a matter of choice to where they are. Some may even just 'detest' Mount Olympus, if that's a thought for anyone. ;3

Or Mount Olympus may just detest them... and being around humans allows them to satisfy their endless thirst for blood and death? Can you tell I'm all set for writing Ares?

Alright, so right now, we're missing a Hera, an Apollo, an Aphrodite, a Demeter, a Hades, a Dionysus, a Poseidon, and an Athena. I'm not so worried over Hestia, or Demeter or Dionysus, to be frank, but the rest I would really like. If you'd care to take a second character, I highly recommend it. (Especially Aphrodite. She's got a hilarious background)

Speaking of backgrounds, I've found some hilarious information in Aphrodite's history in my new book. It's revealed the bit of bromance between Apollo and Hermes. It's really quite funny, seeing as they're both HUGE perves.

Sorry I've been so out of touch, peoples. I've been thinking on it, and I think I'll go ahead and set up the roleplay, but leave it open to anyone who wants to join in. But! In my alone time, (along with the help of a certain someone) a plot line has been semi-developed.
So, plot line time. Consider the society of today. Majority of the world is monotheistic, or atheistic or agnostic. Would gods who once had supreme power of the worlds most developed society at the time be happy for that? Probably not. So, there enters the idea of 'sides'. Those who want a following, those who want to live normal lives, and those who just don't give a damn. Out of the ones who want a following, some may be willing to force it, by any means necessary. I'll let you all think on that.

Does this mean that the Gods who do want a following might reveal themselves, claiming that they are a God and willing to prove it? Obviously they appear to mortals as nothing more than a mortal themselves. It is in their knowledge and power over normal beings that shows their real identity. As a result, it would take commitment and work to bring about a change in the attitudes of the world.

I'm excited... and with only one week left of school, I'll have time to commit throughout the entirety of a week.

Well, in some myths, people have lost sight, gone insane, or just flat-out DIED from having seen the god's true forms. In any case, to NOT be able to show a true form to mortals may cause all sorts of fun and awkward antics.

I don't have much school left either, which is one reason I'm hesitating with starting this up. I have AP test the next 2 weeks, and prom this coming weekend.
