In the end,
It didn't change.
I didn't change.

It may have looked different,
A little shinier, perhaps,
A convincing façade.

It makes me wonder,
Entertain the thought.

I am a fool.
I wasn't changed,
Just reminded.

The Connection

I found it.
Uncalled and uncertain,
But unmistakable.

Maybe it found me.
Enticing and alluring, but fragile.
Balanced on the whisper of a word.

I find myself wanting to keep it.
But silence keeps the scales even,
And the masks keep the mystery.

So close...
It's almost tangible.
The fantasy a cruelty.

Found, but not gained.

Gone

That night the fire died;
The night we burned our last bridge,
And as we watched it sink into the depths, drowned in tears and our regrets,
We found the meaning of alone
Etched on our hearts, set in stone.

If this life is meant for sorrow, I don’t think I can face tomorrow.
Hope dwindles with the sun, and I fear the night to come,
Because loneliness makes me alone.

Now the silence screams
The echoes of what was lost.
I see in reflection of the past, our mirrored dreams have turned to glass,
Broken shards that haunt the mind,
Leaving scars for pain to find.

These memories bittersweet beg my heart not to beat.
I am half of a whole, torn asunder from my soul.
It chose to leave with her.
