My first more "serious" anime would have to be S-Cry-ed. Beasting anime, but when I read the manga recently I was severely sad, as the difference between the two was enormous 
But my favorites consist of:
Code Geass (anime)
Mx0
Fairy Tail
666 Satan
Liar Game
Bobobo (the anime moreso)
Zatch Bell
Katekyo Hitman Reborn
Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro
Soul Eater
And well, S-Cry-ed for its sentimental value (and just for being quite interesting with a nice storyline).
