Starcraft: The End of Times

So with the release of the first part of the SC2 trilogy at hand, and my return to the site, I figured I'd start up a Starcraft roleplay. Short and simple. If you've played the games, you know how it'll run.

All playable races will be open. Xel'naga might appear later.

Well duh, although I'm pretty unfamiliar with anything SC2 at the moment.

I have a feeling this was spawned from chat.

Admittedly, it was in part, but I've a love for Starcraft that's been around for years now. I've done a few Starcraft-themed role plays in the past, so this is not new territory for me.

Real in depth knowledge of Starcraft is not necessary, but having more than a passing knowledge of the setting and various planets would be most helpful. If need-be, I'd suggest looking over the Starcraft Wikia for help.

Kidding, kidding. Will the hybrids be available? Also, in all seriousness, could I be someone akin to infested Kerrigan? The Queen of Blades herself would be god-moddy, but maybe a younger infested ghost, less potential but still being trained nontheless?

My plans are to have us play the beginnings of the Great War, as set forth by Starcraft, from the view of a different group of people. Hybrids will show up eventually.

As far as other Infested Terrans, I don't see why not. The Overmind is searching for beings with psionic potential to assimilate into the Swarm, so I doubt Kerrigan was the only one.

To start off, my plans are to have everyone as a Terran of some sort and as the story progresses, you can keep the character, have them infested, killed, or simply switch characters to something else. Protoss characters are restricted at the start, but as we get further into the story, they'll open up.

I love Starcraft and I'd be interested, so long as we follow a basic story line (I know we will be on the fringes of the Great War's beginnings, but what are we doing there? Or are each of our characters supposed to fill in the blanks as we go?)

Well, as far as following a basic storyline, we'll be tentatively following the storyline set forth by Starcraft and Brood War;

Zerg invade.
Confederacy dicks around.
Several "radical" groups pop up offering aid and support.
Protoss start glassing planets.
etc, etc.

The plotline will shift along lines developed by we, the players. For instance, we might not have a lot of trouble with any Infested agents of the Overmind for a long time. Conversely, while Jim and Sarah are getting to know each other on Antiga, we might be in the midsts of fending on sinister attempts by an Infested Terran.

The skeleton is down; the rest of the work will be done by us.

If Chain and Hobo check in within a few days, I'll shift this over into the OOC stage and let y'all know when to expect the thread.

What Terran world would we like to start off on? Mar Sara or something else?

I'm glad I found this when I was just coming back. I'd be interested in playing a Terran Marine or Vulture pilot.
