The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny [Movie Edition]

This is a game that I had seen on a different forum several years ago that was it's own subforum for the sake of debate and voting. The scale was such that nearly every active member got involved with it and I am hoping that it would be as popular on this site.

The inspiration.

Here is how it works:

Phase 1: Nominations Open
This phase lasts until all 16 seats are filled with combatants picked by members based upon a provided category. Each member submits one contender (unless there isn't enough submissions in a timely manner) who will compete against all the others in a single-elimination tournament determined by vote. All submissions must include an image of the contender they are submitting.

Phase 2: Discussion & Vote
Once all the seats are filled, the discussion portion is opened for two matches at a time that lasts for a few days. At this point, members are encouraged to debate who they believe would be the survivor of each match and why. After a few days, the polls will be opened for members to decide the winner of the matches. Every member is encouraged to debate and vote, even if they haven't submitted a candidate.

Phase 3: Repeat
Once the winners of the previous matches have been determined, Phase 2 will repeat for the next two sets of contenders until there is only one survivor.



It may sound simple, but the true fun behind this game is found in the discussion portion. Members are strongly encouraged to express their passion for their favorite contender and energetically (but respectfully) voice why your choice is superior and why the other is inferior. Just remember above all else that this is a game and is meant to be done in the spirit of fun. Follow the FoG rules and remember to be respectful to other members; we are boasting and berating the contenders, not the members backing them.

Indiana Jones vs Buffy | Don Corleone vs Wesker

Anybody may voice their opinions on the matter at any time.

Indie definately has it over Buffy. Pure resourcefullness. She has fancy moves but that never impressed Dr. Jones.

I don't care how rough the mafia is Don Corleone is no match for Wesker not even a chance.

I can only really put my input in for the first fight as well, but I've gotta give it to Indy because I'm pretty sure that not even the Slayer herself can stake a man as skilled with a bull-whip as he is.

Don Corleone had 5 shots emtpied into him in The Godfather and he lived to fight another day and then had his goons take care of his dirty work for him. He has irreproachable class will smite you with his all englobing wisdom. I only have one thing to say about Wesker: I am going to make him an offer he can't refuse.

As for Indiana Jones and Buffy... well I have to say Indiana comes on top with his infamous pistol and mad whip skills. Buffy is great... against vampires, not explorers/college proffessors.

Being an anthropology geek I of course have to side with Indy...he's smart, he's skilled, he can defeat the bad guy, get the goods AND he can do it even being at least twice buffy's age, maybe more. Will she age that well?

Indiana Jones: Because of his resourcefulness and years of experience. Buffy's cool... against vampires, not badasses.

Wesker: Because in RE5, I only beat him with a Rocket Launcher. That was the only way. And I missed a few times. And in the movie, he looks tremendously badass. I mean, how do you hit him? He freaking blinks across the room like crazy.

For the first fight, I choose Indiana Jones! Sure, Buffy can kill vampires, but has she ever survived an atomic explosion? I highly doubt it!

And for the second fight, Wesker of course. First reason being I chose him, so duh! Second reason being that the don is old and will probably die of natural causes soon enough, while Wesker is young, nearly immortal, and eats babies for breakfast.

I completely agree with everyone that Indie is dah man!

But, never having seen the RE series, I'm not so sure about the second fight. Surely minions have some weight?
