New Banner + No Ads

It seemed we were ready for a bit of a banner change. The old one was made for smaller resolutions, so if you were viewing FoG at a larger resolution, the banner was stretched and distorted. It also seemed overly large, font-wise. I found an image I liked better in addition.

I didn't realize it, but I needed to pay to get rid of our banner advertisements as well. Thankfully, it's pretty cheap, so now both guests and members won't see any ads anymore.

I am so very happy that our Admin is a graphic designer.

I'm really relieved that the advertisements are gone.

I like the new look of the banner. It gives it kind of a creepier, raw edge. =3

I'll let you know about the banner if I'm actually ever able to see it... <.<

Yep, I decided to move that, since it made for sense (in my mind) to have both sections that have the same standards together and Advanced at the top, since this is an advanced role-playing board. I'm not sure why I didn't do that from the beginning.

Another change I did was, for now, remove The Haunted Forum, since it just seemed to be taking up space. It may be brought back in the future.

Finally, it loads. lol. I agree with Blackrock, I don't get a creepy feeling at all from the banner. But, it does make the site feel lighter and we don't have that jumping out, look at me, effect from the banner like before. It just falls into place much better now. Feels more... natural? Haha

I can't see it either. In fact, I'm surprised I can post anything at all due to my computer issues here at home.

BUT! I can't wait to see it, and I am oh-so glad the ads are gone too.

I simply adore it. I was pleasantly surprised when I got back after being gone for so long.

Now that I can see it, I really like the banner. I liked the old one too, but it's nice to see a change of pace. Looks great!

I see where the ads would be, but I use an ad blocker, so it's just empty space.

Yep, the ads just reappeared today, since that expired. I need to make another twenty-something-dollar payment in order to get them to not show for another year, but currently I am unemployed and therefore have absolutely zero money, so we'll see about getting those removed as soon as possible. In the meantime, I apologize. I hate them just as much, and it just looks really unprofessional.

UPDATE: Alright, well my dad just gave me some money, so I'm able to get rid of the ads for both members and guests. Thanks, dad!

However... For some stupid reason (I really hate the designers behind Forumotion more and more, as much as I do like some things), it won't let me pay to remove ads until tomorrow. It says that ads should be disabled until today, meaning they shouldn't be showing up at all right now. Yet they are. >.< But at least we only have to put up with it for a day. Tomorrow, I'll pay to have them removed for another year.

Thankfully (thanks to donations!), our domain name is still good for a long time.

Since the same ad continued to come up whenever I entered the site, I honestly thought you got sponsored or something. Haha. If I wasn't poor myself, I'd donate some money, this place is amazing and worth the money.

If I get a decent job, I'll be sure to make a nice big fat juicy donation. ^_^

The ads are what keep Forumotion.com "free," but obviously paying Forumotion to remove the ads is an alternative route. Either way, they're making money, whether its from the forum administrators or from the people who pay them to run their ads. The ads aren't for me or to help me run FoG any, so there's no point in me keeping them there.
