High Fantasy original IntCheck

Post by Asdrubael on Thu Mar 24, 2011 12:33 am

I had an idea that I started on another roleplaying site, of which I am also still roleplaying, but it's turned out to be really slow, and about half of the people who joined dropped out. So I'm looking to start up the idea here, mostly as a way to possibly build on this world that I'm building. I'm also looking for someone or some people to help out with the idea if it takes any interest. It's an enormous project that will take me way too long to actually complete, and given my propensity for changing things (this particular story has undergone about 6-7 incarnations so far in 7 years), I would love some feedback on this, from people who look like they know what they're doing, and doing it very well.

Map of Majy'sa

This is the world view of Majy'sa, not yet separated by political boundaries. There is a political map as well, divided up into quite a few countries. I've no idea where I would like this story to take place in this world quite yet. Still deciding.

As for a sort of rough sketch for the Creation myth that I have, here goes. This is able to be reworked, edited and whatnot.

Spoiler:
Origin
Before time and space and origin, there was a void that was neither light nor dark, empty nor full, without form and thought and mindfulness. In this impossibility of no-thing, it moves. Impossibility becomes an improbability, which therefore becomes fact. A mind is born of this void, sparkling into new life. This mind is Zion, the Transcendent. Space and time folded unto itself, and thus Zion became aware. He was all encompassing and nothing at once, and his thoughts expanded and became cohesive things. Being Everything and Nothing, Zion became more aware of his impending loneliness. Zion yearned for companionship.
Yearning, Zion swelled with all his being to produce a son, who called himself Deimos. Yet Deimos was a void, vast and empty, He did nothing to cure Zion of his loneliness, so Zion bore a sapling which grew into a daughter, Adrellach. Adrellach was full of self, filled with the need to create. Deimos was a void, something that needed to be filled. Striking a balance, where Adrellach had too much muchness and Deimos too empty, both joined in a passionate coitus. Their energies spilled unto the other and the universe was conceived. Adrellach birthed the planets and breathed out the stars. The universe was still yet incomplete, too plain in it's single dimension. Her self was still much too much and Deimos still too void, and again from their divine flesh they conceived the many planes of existence, brimming with wild energies. Yet still, no life breathed in these dimensions.

Birth of the Occuria
Adrellach and Deimos wandered their creations, exploring the universe and the many planes of existence. They spent eons exploring the planets, however devoid of sentient life. They enjoyed the silence of the universe for a time, until the lack of life drove loneliness into their hearts once again.

Adrellach was so full of loneliness that she danced around in the stars, singing to the planets as if they would respond. Her Hymn was so powerful, so full of want that the Occuria came to be. The Hymn wove the flesh of the Occuria and filled them with wild energies. They were her wanton children, perfect in creation and infused life within her worlds. However, they could not exist outside of the Cosmic planes. The Prime Material plane could not sustain the body of an Occuria, so saturated with raw aether energies it would leak out of every orifice.

Empyrea
The Empyrea was a byproduct of the creation of the Occuria. The echoes of Adrellach's Hymn resonated among the stars and created the Empyrea. They were fragmented Occurian deities, with only the echoes of the Hymn to give them their power.

The Empyrea lived by watching the planets. They were enthralled by their dance and grew content with their existance. While some were content, others grew bored. Of those, they descended to one of the planets that piqued their interest, Majy'sa, and from their flesh created their children. Of those were Undreemos, Al'n, Elaelarri, Shemhazai, F'ssua and Sc't. Undreemos created the Asmeeurdra, Al'n the Andusk, Velekai the Huma, Shemhazai the Dhjeedi, F'ssua the Sumeer and the TuraceSeyr and Sc't the SaryxAuthra and the Fiachra.

Descent into Madness
Deimos, The Abyssal Celebrant. Consort and Brother of the Life-Binder, Son of the Transcendant. It was a slow degrading state, a naggling thing inside his mind, it burrowed into his being. The Triad Lord hungered for the Hymn. He needed to hear it, to feel it, to see it. He needed to be surrounded by the cacophony and harmony of the noise. It began small, almost like an itch. An itch that never went away. It scratched at the back of his mind until it slowly drove him insane. He tried surrounding himself with the Occuria. He mated and loved with the Occuria, drowned himself in their presence. He fathered an Occurian child. Nothing rid himself of the naggling feeling in the base of his soul. A desire burned inside of him. Like a black hole, he felt the need to consume.

Deimos hungered. He took his Occurian child, lured him with sweet words, fed him promises. Then he devoured him. He sucked the Hymn out of his childs body, leaving him nothing but a wraith of his former self. It was a horrible process, and left nothing but a similar hunger in the wraith itself. In the vastness of the Cosmic plane, the wraith hunted for the occurian echoes to feed upon. Devouring the child, Deimos was satiated though only for a short while. The naggling hunger eventually returned, and Deimos quivered with want. Like before, the Abyssal Celebrant lured in another Occurian, with promises and sweet words. He devoured this ones energy as well, leaving it a ghost of its former self, with no mind of its own.

And so this continued, slowly devouring the Occuria. The others became curious of what happened to their fellow Occuria, however knowing that some were prone to disappearing to play with the creatures on the prime material plane through divine possession. They did nothing to satisfy their curiousity, mistaking it for a normal occurrence. As time passed and the Occuria who went missing never returned, and the appearance of the aetherwraiths, the Occuria left began to suspect something horrible. The aetherwraiths were a new creature to them, with increasing attacks on their kind, and noticing the rifts of wraiths appearing in the prime material plane. The Occuria grew fearful, also noticing the odd behaviors of Deimos.

Their fears were confirmed when Deimos attacked a pair of Occuria, devouring the essence of one while the other fled. This led to the mass panic of the rest of the Occuria, the mad descent into the Prime Material plane and the destruction of the majority of their kind. Those left realized the futility of madly descending onto the lesser plane, and began sending Hymn woven creatures to the mortals below and possessing them in an attempt to communicate with them. The only way that an Occuria ccould exist on the Prime Material plane was through channeling the energies through another body. It is similar to the Divine Possession that prepares the body for the channeling of the Aria, and leaves residual energies within the flesh. The amount of energy that the body can handle is very small, however it is enough to allow the Occurian to maintain existence on the Prime Material plane. It is very stressful for the Occurian's unique body. The sensation is much like being bloated, saturated and exploding. It is a very painful existence, however the existence for an Occurian after becoming devoured is much worse.

War of the Celebrants Rapacity
With the Flooding of Occurian powers into the prime material plane, the stability of the other planes is wavering. The flood of the Hymn in a realm that can only withstand smaller amounts of its power is losing its integral structure. Scholars are noticing the flux of powers within the world, and those who have already been attuned to the Hymn are especially sensitive to the flood of the Eidolon's Aria. The scholars have been bringing recognition to the worlds powers in order to organize an attempt to battle the legions of the Abyssal Celebrant.

We begin with a peculiar Occurian escapes one of Deimos' Empyrean Generals, Gelafein. The circumstance concerning this escape regards the fact that the general is the Occurian's father. Rather than delivering her to Deimos, he hoarded her to himself. She was badly beaten and abused in sickening ways. Her soul and Hymnal energies were drained from her and she barely escaped from becoming a wraith herself. Her sense of self sorely drained, the Occurian has no problem fleeing to the Prime Material plane to seek out a being in which to bind herself to in order to survive. She must find someone who has already been possessed and whose body has already been saturated with the Eidolon's Aria. From here, with the help of others, she must organize a crusade against the Triad God Deimos, the Abyssal Celebrant.

The stuff in the quote is very changeable. I haven't decided on how I want to portray this idea quite yet, mostly because of my characters involvement, aka Gelafein's daughter. I was thinking about having her maintain an existence on the prime material plane, as in rebirth and all of her memories of her past tucked away into some horrible box in her mind. She is still wanted by Gelafein, and Gelafein has essentially sent her brother out looking for her.

If this suits anyone's fancy, I can let on to other things, like the races I have which are also only half done and mostly only theorized, and magic and religions and such. I'm also looking to make this into a novel at some point, if I can ever just sit down and write a few thousand words. I get so preoccupied with trying to get commissions and other things.

Awesome. I mostly just need to brainstorm this thing. I think I have a little issue coming up with active plots rather than just background story. I rather like the idea of this taking on a novel-like plot. A group of heroes trying to prevent the Elder god Deimos from consuming the fabric of creation, and sending the husks of the Occurian gods through the planes to absorb the Eidolon's Aria.

I'll admit my interest is piqued, which doesn't happen often with Fantasy.

I've been going over this for the last little while. And correct me if I am wrong, the basic premise is two god type beings, Deimos and Adrellach, have birthed a divine race somewhat like angels. And Deimos for some yet not completely understood reason begins to in essence consume his children's...souls.... in order to fill this emptiness within him.

This in turn scares the living daylights of said divine race and a mad rush to the Prime Material, aka the world our character inhabit, begins. During this mass exodus a Occurian female escapes her father after nearly being turned into a wraith. And in order to exist on the Prime Material Plane she needs to posses a body already saturated with the ' Eidolon's Aria'. Is this 'Eidolon's Aria' some sort of right or ability certain races or classes possess. I.e is it a mage thing or more of a cleric kinda thing.

I just want to make sure I am not getting anything wrong is all.

Yeah, I would agree its a hard concept to wrap your mind around and might require some explanation, I'd like to hear a reply to Hisoka as well
