Re: Malfoy's Marionettes
File Recognized - Ben - No. 01
- Full Name:
Benjamin "Ben" Evan Wyler
Date of Birth:
14 March 1996 - Age 15
Codename:
Young Marvel
Known Abilities:
Due to a mysterious chemical accident, Ben's genes have been altered and contain strong amounts of elements (oxygen, hrydogen, magnesium etc.). This genetic modification allows him to control the elements at will. Ben currently can manipulate the oxygen in the air and the metals in the earth. Power development may be possible, but has yet to be seen.
Current Position:
Elected leader of "the team."
Personality:
Ben has always longed for an exciting life. Having been raised in sheltered normality, Ben never experienced much of what the world had to offer, good or bad. Because of this, he is naturally curious and desires independence. Despite his sheltered childhood, Ben has an undying sense of bravery; he has a drive to help those in need and often does so without thinking of the consequences. Depending on the situation, Ben has a tendency to over and under estimate himself and his abilities. He's incredibly friendly and outgoing and normally quick to trust. He has the ability to see the good in almost everyone and prefers solving confrontations non violently, whenever possible.
Ben wants to be wanted and valued, he prefers having friends over enemies. Ben isn't always sure if he can be a leader, but he normally isn't one to give up or turn down a challenge. Ben is practically selfless and would lay down his life for his team and friends without a second thought. He is hesitate to sacrifice himself for strangers though. Ben wants to be a hero, but can be unsure of himself. But with practice and perseverance, he believes anything is possible.
Strengths:
Ben is friendly, outgoing, forgiving and trustworthy. It's rare for him to hold a grudge against someone and if he does, it's very short lasting. Ben normally looks on the bright side of things and doesn't give up when things get hard. Ben has a very powerful, but raw ability, due to his accideantal genetic modification. Ben is courageous and although a bit impulsive, he's wiling to do almost whatever it takes to help people in need, even at the cost of his well being. He doesn't think of himself as a good leader, but when it counts, he can take charge.
Weaknesses:
Ben may be friendly, but to an extent, he can be naive. He's not quick to trust everyone, but he can be too quick to disregard past confrontations in favor of friendship. Ben also has very little control and knowledge of his ability; it happened by accident and unlike his friends, has had no one to guide him in ways of using them. Ben tends to think badly of himself and he can have little faith in his skills. Ben has the need to be accepted, which is why he conformed to his parents's desires for the longest time. He'll do almost anything to make people happy which can be a good or a bad thing.
Living Relatives:
Matthew Wyler - Ben's father is the stereotypical American. He works nine to five in his office five days a week, likes football and baseball and a good steak now and then. Like his wife, Matthew Wyler was satisfied with his normal, but dull life and he pressured his son Ben to be the same. His and his wife forced only educational books and television on their son and forbid him from speaking or thinking of anything they deemed ridiculous. He tried to tolerate his son's new..."disability" for a few weeks, but now that his son has left, Matthew is intent on pretending he never existed and going back to his normal life.
Lisa Wyler - Ben's overbearing mother obsesses over normality more than her husband does. When it comes to who wears the pants in the Wyler family, it's definitely Lisa. At first glance, she seems like the sweet and caring stay at home mother who loves cooking and cleaning. But, behind closed doors, Lisa works hard to preserve the image of a perfect family. When she and her husband learned for the aftermath of Ben's accident, it was she who convinced Mr. Wyler that their son's "disability" was something they couldn't live with. It was her behavior that convinced Ben to run away. Lisa was more than happy to see him go; without him, life can go back to normal.
Biography:
Ben was born the first and only child to Matthew and Lisa Wyler, a plain couple who wanted nothing more than to have a stereotypical, normal American family. His early childhood was sheltered, his parents banning anything they deemed too "abnormal" for their tastes. Ben read only the Bible, watched only educational tv, wore the same kind of clothes every day and was only allowed a handful of boring friends. But, Ben never thought much of his oddly normal life. He just assumed that's how most people lived and that normal was not only normal, but expected. His parents frowned upon his kindness and his strong sense of justice, though that didn't stop him from showing it. Ben has always wanted to help those in need, ever since the first time he snuck downstairs to watch superhero cartoons on a Saturday morning.
Ben spent much of his life trying to please his parents. His relationship with his dad was stable, though he always felt distanced from his mother as she piled expectation upon expectation on him. Normally passice, Ben dismissed her judgments and strict rules as normal, just like he did his life. It wasn't until a fateful accident on the last field trip of the school year that Ben's outlook on life changed. His Honors Biology class took a field trip to a chemistry lab, a congratulation on a year of hard work. It was there that a fellow student got a little too close to a set of chemicals that a scientist admitted was a complicated experiment with the elements. The student spilled the chemicals and selflessly, Ben stepped in the way. He thought he was saving the kid from a stained shirt, but it was much more than that.
Over the next few days, Ben began to feel different. Always ill with mysterious symptoms and an extreme lack of focus in anything, his parents rushed him to the doctor's office the moment they knew something was wrong. After tests, they learned the spill had altered Ben's genetic makeup: it seemed that while half human, Ben also had high counts of the periodic elements in his blood. It was then that Ben accidentally learned this mutation gave him superhuman abilities which include controlling the elements in the air and in the earth. His parents smiled and pretended like they were accepting of this change, but unfortuantely, that was far from the truth.
A week later, Ben caught him parents up late in the kitchen discussing him. His mother called him a "freak," and was only concerned about how the neighbors would react if they found out. Though not as hostile, Ben was heartbroken when he heard his father agree. No longer feeling loved or welcomed, Ben packed some things and left his house that night without even saying goodbye. Ben roamed the streets for a week, eating what he could and sleeping in allies. But a bank robbery became a turning point in his life. Blindly rushing in to save hostages, Ben met and teamed up with Evadne, a petite blodne who could manipulate electricity, Daze a kind alien with powers of her own, and Scorpius, a silent boy who knew how to control others' shadows. Together, the four formed a small team, ready to use their powers to fight crime. Ben joined the Kids at War and finally felt like he belonged.

Re: Malfoy's Marionettes
File Recognized - Scorpius - No. 03
- Full Name:
Steven Mason "Scorpius" Dilaurentis
Date of Birth:
31 October 1994 - Age 17
Codename:
Scorpio
Known Abilities:
Scorpius has been granted mysterious powers that delve deeply into the mystic legends of the stars. His parents, sorcerers in their own right, believed strongly in Astrology and they also believed that the stars were their own beings with unique abilities. Scorpius's parents attempted to use their magic to grant their son control over water, the element associated with Scorpio, but, their spells failed. Instead, Scorpius gained control over shadows and darkness. He can pull a shadow from the ground or the wall and use it as an extension of his body; he can also sink into a wall or the ground and become a shadow himself. Scorpius's most deadly ability is controlling another's shadow: a power he uses rarely, controlling one's shadow gives him control over the person themselves. Scorpius has mastered his powers, but he still knows little about them and his origins.
Current Position:
Team stealth and reconnaissance expert.
Personality:
Scorpius is a tall, silent and sometimes intimidating individual. Speaking when only absolutely necessary, he often retreats into his subconscious and loses himself in thought. The most obervant member of the team, Scorpius is always taking in his surrounds and analyzing them thoroughly; even small things his friends may not catch, he notices them and is quicjk to point them out. Though a bit antisocial, Scorpius is very warm and polite, but he is not outgoing or quick to trust. Because of his power over the shadows, Scorpius is strongest during the day, but often a night owl. Ever since he was given his powers, Scorpius has had a fascination with darkness; he keeps his interest at bay in order to prevent it from sprouting into a dark obsession. He watched his parent's obsession with the stars consume them so Scorpius is frightened of getting too attached to one person or thing.
Scorpius is confused regarding the stars his parents based his abilities off of. Originally born Steven Dilaurentis, Scorpius was once a happy, carefree and social boy. He loved to ride bikes and his favorite toy was a bouncy ball. Since the spells his parents cast on him, Scorpius has changed completely and the change wasn't by choice. Scorpius struggles to remember what he was once like, but he doesn't try to figure it out for himself. Because of his parents ill intentions, he's hidden his past from his friends, believing it best to protect them. Scorpius is much like an older brother figure to the team; he cares very much for them and views them as the family he never had. Clever and experienced in his powers, he is skilled at stealth and prefers to fight quietly over fighting directly and violently.
Strengths:
Scorpius is practically a genius; with innate senses and a natural observer, he is rarely deceived and he absorbs every bit of information that passes by him. His memory is photographic and he often provides information to the team regarding the subject of their missions. Scorpius is also very logical; with a mature head on his shoulders, he considers his options quickly, but carefully before making a move. Not one to run into battle, Scorpius prefers to strategize and end battles before they can begin. Scorpius also has a mastery of his powers. If needed in direct confrontations, Scorpius is an excellent partner to have. He is the practical, logical, intelligent and quick to learn all information required; his contribution to the team is rather crucial.
Weaknesses:
Scorpius only talks when absolutely necessary; this trait can lead to one easily distrusting him. And Scorpius himself has a challenge in trusting and putting his faith in others. Though he fights hard to keep those he cares about at arm's length, he still often forms a bond of attachment, one he cannot easily break. Scorpius is normally independent, but develops a dependency on friends. He possesses a thirst for knowledge that could also be considered borderline obsession; what he learns is never enough and Scorpius wants nothing more than to solve every mystery surrounding his abilities. Very little passes him unseen, but Scorpius still holds information from friends and his teammates in order to spare their feelings. Scorpius's many insecurities effect him many ways and he cannot always keep them at bay.
Josiah Dilaurentis - Josiah Dilaurentis loved magic and the stars probably more than his own family. His life was dedicated to his research and to decoding the ancient myths regarding the people of the stars. An eccentric man much like his wife, Josiah hid his son away from the world and taught him almost everything he knew about the stars and magic. It was one day that Josiah's obsession with the star people overcame him and he his wife put their supernatural knowledge together in order to create a spell that would transform their son into a mirror of image of the star people. The spell was to give their son the powers of star Scorpio. The spell went wrong, giving Steven dark powers, but none like that of Scorpio. Regardless of their failure, Josiah and his wife renamed their son Scorpius, with his memories of his early life washed away. They trained him to master his powers, but one day, Josiah and his wife were brutally murdered by a man who seemed to have his own ties to the star people. Scorpius was spared and he now lives on, trying to solve the riddles surrounding Josiah and his wife.
Cassandra Dilaurentis - Much like her husband, Cassandra dedicated her life to studying magic and the star people. She practically worshiped them and dreamed of one day becoming one of them. She and her husband worked together to create a spell of their own that would make her dreams a reality. But, Cassandra and her husband tested this spell on their child and the results were far from expected. Their son was given strange powers, none like the ones they'd originally intended to bestow upon him. Cassandra still renamed her child Scorpius and did her best to teach him his powers. She guarded him from the outside world, as very few in the real world would accept their beliefs regarding the stars. But one day, Cassandra and her husband were brutally murdered by a stranger who seemed to have his own ties to the star people. Scorpius is still interested in solving the mysteries regarding his fallen parents.
Biography:
Scorpius was born to two young lovers who obsessed over the stars. He was born Steven Mason Dilaurentis and through much of his early life, his parents raised him to believe that the stars were actually a race of powerful beings who watched over the entire universe. His parents wanted nothing more than to leave their humanity behind and join them, but at the time, Steven did not understand this. He blindly followed his parents as any young child would do and he believed what they taught him wholeheartedly. His parents practiced spells of their own and as a young boy, Steven himself also became an accomplished magician.
But, Steven was hidden away from the world. Never was he allowed to leave the small run down apartment his family lived in. In fact, there is barely any record of his existence at all; no birth certificate, no formal records, nothing. Steven's parents explained to him that the world was a cruel, cruel place that wouldn't accept their beliefs in the star people and Steven believed them. Steven believed everything his parents told him quite blindly, but, his faith in them began to waver as they began using him as a test subject for their experiments. Josiah and Cassandra Dilaurentis were scheming up a spell to become star people themselves. And all their efforts were tested on their child. As time went on, Steven came to the conclusion that his parents obsession with the stars trumped their love for him.
Finally, Steven's life was forever changed when his parents believed they'd perfected their spell. Before using the spell on themselves, they planned to test it on Steven. They assumed the spell would turn him into a Scorpio, a race of star people with power over the element of water. But, the spell went wrong. Steven was transformed, his appearance forever altered and he was given disturbing abilities. Steven could now control the darkness, primarily the shadows of all living things and objects. But the spell had other devastating effects; Steven's memory was completely erased. With no memory of his early life, he accepted himself as Scorpius, the name his parents then gave him. They trained him as best they could to master his abilities and eventually, he did.
But, Scorpius distrusted his parents; for reasons he couldn't explain, they seemed to be everything, but truthful. Before he could solve this mystery, a man found their home late one night. He demonstrated powers very similar to Scorpius's own and the man used them to brutally murder his parents. Whatever the man was looking for, it seemed that he hadn't found it in the Dilaurentis home. So he left, disregarding Scorpius completely. Scorpius was left alone and he left his home, not knowing where to go or what to do. He lived on the streets for a few weeks until he helped three other teenagers stop a robbery. Scorpius quickly became friends with Ben, Evadne and Daze, who had many similarities to him. Scorpius has joined their crime fighting team and now helps to protect Oceanship City while secretly trying to decode the mysteries his parents left behind.
