Caligo Member Rank Updated

For those who have seen the Caligoan member rank and thought it impossible to achieve, here's some great news for you: The requirements for being upgraded to the highest possible member rank here on FoG have been made more reachable.

Originally, to become a Caligoan, you had to have 3,000 posts plus 3 completed role-plays. That was later reduced to 1 completed RP, seeing as how hard it can be to actually finish one. Well, after some thought, I decided that it wasn't exactly fair that everyone had to rely on others (especially when there can sometimes be a lot of people per role-play) in order to earn this rank. So, we did away with the completed RP requirement entirely.

Now, in order to be upgraded to a Caligoan rank and to earn access to the secret hidden forum in the Caligo section, you must have at least 3,000 posts and one role-play in the Caligo forum. This can be a current RP or one from the past.

However, this does bring up a problem, in that when FoG accidently pruned the Caligo RP section, it did delete some RPs permanently. Of course, this was very upsetting and we don't ever want to try and make use of the pruning option again, but as such, I don't know who was involved in past Caligo RPs and who wasn't. So, this is where you guys come in. If you reach 3,000 posts and have been involved in a Caligo RP, even one that was deleted, then please tell me. We trust you guys to be honest, and of course we can judge based on a few factors if people might be lying.

lol I was trying to figure your rank out, Gadreille! I was attempting to see how I could make them either one or the other, and maybe Axiom has a better idea (though I wouldn't think it'd be that complicated - but it is Forumotion). Your name's in both categories (if you click on them at the bottom of the message board on the main page), it's just tricky getting you to appear as one over the other evidently. If you're okay with it though, then of course we can leave it like that for you.

Forumotion allows you to use HTML in the title field of the ranks, Fayt. Maybe some creative ingenuity there might help you figure something out.

I'm very happy with guardian ghost, it suits me. In fact, I even mist miss the guardian ghost color, as purple has always been my favorite. But, the white is rather flashy

So, what will the new, hidden forum entail for those who attain access to it?

Aw man, I'm actually a little bummed that you completely removed the requirement for completing a role-play! Loki's Viemera role-play is about to end soon, and then I would have been just a few hundred posts away from the Caligoan rank!

I can see how the new requirements fit the Caligoan rank better, but I would like to point out it might still make it difficult for people, since the Caligo section has seen very little activity. Well, hopefully this new requirement will get some more Caligo role-plays rolling!

Aww, no kidding, Silvan? Well, congrats! It sounds like you might end up having our first official completed role-play here (aside from all the completed RPs in Emoira of course!).

Besides earning the highest member rank you can get, it really is more suited for those interested in Caligo anyway, seeing as it grants access to a hidden Caligo-related forum, so I think requiring a Caligo RP helps get people in the spirit to participate in the forum that they later will be unlocking.

Completing a role-play is totally its own reward.
No amount of rewards or special recognition could change or increase the sense of accomplishment--and of course the resulting completed work in itself.

To add to what Kalon has said, there is a bit of recognition. Completed role-plays are displayed in a subforum of the Archives!

Do all staff have access to it or only the ones who meet the requirements?

I had it set so that the mods could all see this hidden forum in order to provide feedback during its creation if they wanted to. Now, only Global Moderators and Administrators can see the hidden forum, since it is automatic for those two groups and can't be changed, as they have moderating privileges throughout all of FoG.

I see mention of a role play being completed. But not listed as such (that I could find anyway). Maybe a little fanfare and an announcement for those that made it would be in order?

There should be cake and such as Silvan would say.

I agree, Muse! Our first completed FoG role-play is a huge accomplishment for the site, and I think the writers who contributed should get a little pat on the back or something.
