New Ranks!

FOG now has a few new ranks. Check them out here!

Along with the new ranks, we now have a very hidden forum just for those members that are able to earn the Caligoan rank! They get exclusive rights to the Hidden Island of Caligo forum, and not only this, but the forum is a place where Caligoans can talk about anything and everything, but all in-character, as if they were their main character for Caligo! It's not a role-playing forum, but rather a place to simply speak in character and keep up your in character role. I've started and done something like this in the past, and it's extremely fun. Everyone seems to love it, so it is definitely a great sort of something extra for you guys.

The new ranks are great, Fate! I'm going to have to work on getting the Caligo rank, hehe!

: ) Great ranks! I, too, will strive to the Caligoan rank... though it may take ages to do so. My RPs tend to last many months. Hell, there's one that's almost been going on for a YEAR!

The Caligoan rank will definitely be a challenge and it certainly won't be achieved easily, but it is our new last and final rank a member can earn. With time and a bit of devotion, you can all get there!

I'm sure you guys probably noticed/realized, but the Caligoan rank has images of a Grimalkin, Inklaw, and Bownyte, along with ghosties. ^^

Oooh...the Caligoan rank looks so cool! But yikes...I haven't even gotten past Mist yet. This might take a while XP.

No sooner was the top of the rank totem pole (somewhat) in sight that you go ahead and pull it that much further from my reach. Oh well, I can't say that I don't approve of those new ranks (they are quite awesome), it just means that I will have to step it up a notch to make it to Caligoan status.

I have a question about the "three completed roleplays." Do you mean we had to have participated in three roleplays that successfullly ended or have moderated/created three roleplays that successfully ended? Do they have to be group RPs? And...well what if you don't have a Caligo character?

I had a question about the complete roleplays myself... either way, I have to work even harder to get the last rank now! It looks awsome!

Is there anyone close to getting this rank yet? And what makes a "concluded" role-play?

Well, all I need to do is to complete a role play, and I'll qualify for that rank.

Frankly, completing a role play is incredibly difficult. In my mind, a completed role play consists of completing the storyline for the game. It's like when you read a good book, and it has a definite ending. The game wouldn't have just died.

I'm 99% certain that's what a completed roleplay entails. If it ends prematurely, it isn't completed. Otherwise, there would be no point to that requirement whatsoever. So, yes, I believe Kathryn is right.

On the other hand, I'm not fond of the post requirement. I personally think there should be an alternative for people who don't post in every single topic as often as they possibly can, shooting their posts into astronomical figures. For instance, having three completed roleplays; since that, in my opinion, shows more dedication to what FOG's about than having 3500+ posts.

Perhaps I'll have to mention this idea to Fate when she returns and see how it turns out.

I agree. Role-plays should count more than posts. However, there are no role-plays currently completed. Perhaps could active role-plays the person has taken part in count for something? Just an idea.

Personally, I think I agree that there should be an alternative, and your idea seems valid. However, 3,500+ posts is easier to acquire than three completed role plays, so it's unlikely that a person would accomplish that before they accomplish the posting limit.

Personally, I'm fine with the post requirement. Since you need both 3500+ posts and 3+ completed roleplays under your belt, it means that in order to reach this rank, one has shown their dedication to FoG in every aspect, be it IC or OOC (either that, or they've been present in nearly every roleplaying thread since FoG's conception )

Perhaps making it 2000+ posts, one completed role-play and fifteen role-plays participated in?

The thing is that it's not supposed to be easy to get the rank. You only need one completed role play with the 3500+ posts, anyway. The whole point is that it has to be something earned through hard work and dedication.

Even if I hadn't already achieved the necessary post count, I would still feel the same way.

I like the setting it's at now. It used to be that you had to go for three completed role plays, and she already shortened it to one to make it more achievable. I don't think she should have to shorten it again.
