What is this and how does it work?

This thread is used to find other role-players who are interested in the same types of role-plays as you. This is a more assertive way (rather than simply posting an idea in one of the Interest Check forums) of finding people that enjoy the same types of role-plays as you. Sometimes, people that enjoy the same type of role-play that you want to do simply don't look inside or notice a thread you may create in the Interest Check forum. Therefore, you can check here instead, find people that could be interested, and PM them, asking them if they would like to do a specific role-play with you.

Reply here only once, filling out the template below. If you reply more than once, your subsequent posts will be deleted. That way, by filling out your favorite types of role-plays, people in the future will be able to come here and see if you both share similar interests and they may wish to role-play with you. Additionally, you can come back here any time you desire to do a role-play to check for people that would be interested in your role-play idea.


How do I find people that like the role-play that I want to do?

There are a number of ways to go about finding people that post here that are interested in the role-plays that you are. The first way to go about it is to simply search through this thread. Look through here to see if you come across anyone that enjoys the same things as you.

Another way is to simply search the thread. Type in what you're looking for in the Search box in the upper right hand corner.

An easy way of finding something specific is to search for a keyword. For PCs, hit the control + F button, and then type in what you're looking for. If you're using a Mac, go to Edit and the Find and Find. Then, type in the word or name of something that you are trying to find.

I consider myself an advanced role-player. I always strive for excellence and quality in writing.
I consider myself a dedicated role-player. In most every role-play I have been in, I have been the last one standing if it dies. Once I start a role-play, I see it as a serious commitment.

I always try to be an exceptional host, when I lead role-plays. To date, in each role-play I've tried to co-host, I consistently end up hosting it by myself, because the original host or co-host either disappears or abandons the project. <.<
I believe role-plays live or die by their hosts. If a host is dedicated, then so will the players be. If the host disappears, the role-play usually falls apart very quickly. This is because of the power both inherent and necessary in the host position. They're the ones who progress the story. If they don't, and there are no assertive players among the ranks, then the role-play stops cold. So, role-play hosts, always stick with your role-plays to the end, and be very protective against n00bs!

I enjoy exploring new cultures, languages, and worlds. My favorite role-plays are those with an inordinate amount of detail and depth, in a fantasy setting. I want to be blown away by it. Role-plays like that I cannot help but join. They draw me in because I want to explore it all and bring my own perspective of that world. I like to think I have an epic imagination. ^^

Because I normally join large role-plays, I try to limit myself to five role-plays at a time.

I've got three RP's going, but I'm always on the lookout, particularly for something I don't have to actually run. Another one just died, and I'm sort of sad about it.

I like things with a little historical depth or some sort of exploration of human nature, often the unpleasant side of it. I'm not much on the romance, probably because I've got a long string of epic fail at my relationships to show for it and realize that the fiction I'd write about it would entail mutual mistrust, misunderstanding and eventual bitter breakup and self-recrimination. Or just really bad dates where you find out how much you don't like her and can't wait to get rid of her, while wondering why the hell you didn't just hang with the boys.

Yeah, so it's hard for me to fantasize about romance.

If anyone wants to do a Star Wars thread of some sort, advanced or 1v1, I'm down.

Added Information: I enjoy literate, developed plot lines with co-operative and understanding players who are willing to follow a storyline through instead of stealing the spotlight for their own satisfaction. With my fandoms I stick heavily to the lore and find any breaches of canon to be nothing less than a destruction of the essence and beauty of a Universe. If you want a setting and story with your own ideas, just make one, is what I say, don't warp something else to create it. I especially like it when players are mindful of their fellows and include them in the role play, building a sense of fellowship and realism within the party. Things like 'god mode' and 'meta gaming' annoy me greatly, as they speak of a selfishness of character that bars the development of a well devised story.

I'm open to a lot of creative ideas. Simply ask me but don't ask it in a vague way. I like having as much needed information available to read before I make a decision on something. If I have not listed something above then by all means ask me if I'm interested. It never hurts to ask me.

New: If you are reading this, that's good. I would like to say that when I make an RP I general take my time about it. This means ideas will not be written down until I have fleshed out the idea inside my head enough to think whether or not the RP idea is actually any good or not. I tend to be lazy about certain RP ideas that I have and those usually fall to the way-side and get discarded. Any idea that I do come up with I try and at least put forth a reasonable amount of effort in giving people enough knowledge of the idea through the Interest Check thread of that RP idea.

I’m pretty much open for anything really. It just really depends on what mood I’m in. Even with how many role-plays I take on. So, yeah, it’s always best to ask if I’m in the mood or not and don’t take it as I don’t like you’re role-play if I say “no,” I’m probably just not in the right mood to role-play.

• Roleplays which have a set list of pre-determined characters/pre-existing fiction characters which need RPing. It's pretty much a necessity for me to have a totally original character.

I am new to FOG and I am eager to get involved in some quality RPs. While I listed anime and vampires as fandoms I will not do, I usually prefer to not participate in fandoms in general- the two I listed especially. The exception to that rule is Harry Potter. I am not sure why, but I assume it has something to do with my days as an impressionable middle schooler reading HP fan-fiction. I enjoy sci-fi and historical RPs, so if you are starting one, by all means, I would love to join in. I check forums regularly and try to respond expediently.

I almost always completely flesh out an idea before presenting it to the public. This means that it'll have an intro post, an evaluation and a bit of an indication of where the storyline will/could go.
I prefer OnexOne's to most other styles, simply because I find it easier to rely on one person.
In most of my roleplays I enjoy dragging out affection. Usually my character and my partner's character will clash and feelings take time to develop, if they develop at all. It's no fun when they just start making out in the first post.
Apart from that I like to feel that I'm going toe to toe with my partner, as in, I enjoy it when our writing skills complement each other while also helping us to improve as time goes on. If that makes any sense.

Added Information:
I'm a pretty flexible writer, always interested in trying out new and different characters and plots. I like all kinds of fantasy, be it high, low, dark or whatever (but not modern). However, I loathe over the top elements, such as half-dragon-vampire-elves, weapons the size of a man and so forth. (yeah, even thought I listed WH40K and Star Wars, but I'm not a big fan of the real ridiculous stuff). Science fiction as well, but it depends on how well-thought things are. I enjoy historical RP's as well, but it largely depends on my knowledge of the time period. A few more key notes:

• I am an easy going person and thus, prefer people with a longer attention span who won't bail out after the first month.
• Needles to say (since I haven't noticed such a problem at FOG), literate and long, meaningful posts are a must.
• I enjoy RP's that focus more on character interaction and development, as well as exploration of both land and soul.
• I like using instant-messaging programs such as MSN to work out the details, it just speeds things up.
• GMT + 2 timezone.
